Alyma ("we", "our", "us") is a language learning app for Levantine Arabic. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle data. We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What we collect

If you create an account, we store the information provided by your authentication provider (name, email address, and profile picture). This is used solely to identify your account and sync your learning progress across devices.

We collect anonymous, aggregated analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve the learning experience. These analytics do not contain personally identifiable information. We do not use cookies for tracking.

What we do not collect

We do not collect, store, or sell any personally identifiable information beyond what is strictly necessary for account authentication. We do not track you across other websites or apps. We do not build advertising profiles.

How we use your data

Account information is used to provide the service: saving your progress, syncing across devices, and personalising your learning path. Anonymous analytics help us understand which features are used and where learners encounter difficulties, so we can improve the app.

Data storage and security

Your account data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides enterprise-grade security including encryption at rest and in transit. Your learning progress is stored locally on your device and, if you have an account, synced to our servers.

Third parties

We use third-party authentication providers (Google, Apple, Facebook) to handle sign-in. We do not share your data with any other third parties. Our analytics are self-hosted and privacy-respecting.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can delete your account and all associated data by contacting us. You may also use the app without creating an account, in which case no personal data is collected.
